Build and Be Built

As I’ve been reading through Exodus, I was reminded of a crucial reality that applies for the people of God. As the LORD directed Moses to build the tabernacle He tells Moses about an individual named Bezalel of Judah. Concerning Bezalel the LORD says:

I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills Exodus 31:3

This is the first Biblical account of someone being filled with God’s Spirit. Although many of us fly past this verse, this is crucial for New Covenant believer to understand. Notice what is included in this filling!

A Christian Response to Trouble

In the unprecedented time of the coronavirus pandemic, fear plays a role from every side. Whether you are fearful concerning where your income will come from, the state of our economy, the guarantee of our freedoms, or of COVID-19 itself, the situation that we find ourselves in is challenging for all of us. Perhaps you find yourself juggling between a combination of these things. Or you might have a simpler and more subtle fear. Whether you’ve been laid off, you’re just working from home, or you’re working from home while your kids are doing school at home, a more subtle question that we are all thinking is “When will things go back to normal?”

The Reality of Fear during the Coronavirus Pandemic

Life feels shockingly different than it did just a month ago. This same feeling is being experienced all over the world by millions of people and the scale of this alone is hard to believe. When this feeling is coupled with the unknowns on the horizon and the looming threat of an invisible virus, it is not surprising that panic and chaos has come over the whole world.

Treasure in the Mundane

Wherever you are today, I hope you are encouraged by what you are about to read. Life is often not easy. I find myself stuck in each passing day and I know many other people feel the same way. The First Answer to Our Prayers

Imagine yourself going through your day. On this day you’re tired, thirsty, and ready to go home, but it isn’t even lunch yet. You are in need of a pick me up. You know the spot where you can buy a soda to help you make it through until you get real sustenance. You take a quick break to run to that blessed machine that will vend out that sugary goodness. As you finally get the few wrinkled bills that you carry with you into this machine, you hit the button for the soda or energy drink that you’re craving. You can hear it crashing violently through the machine. You find yourself full of expectancy as if the light at the end of the tunnel is coming from the machine’s dispenser. Then, in the big moment, it comes.

A bottle of water.

When You Feel Lack

For this post, I want to discuss something that I think we all struggle with in one way or another. There is no hard and fast rule for this to be sure, but if you are reading this I promise what I am about to say can apply to you in one way or another. I can say that because I was going about my daily routine thinking that I didn’t need to hear this. I felt like I had wisdom, but I was wrong. It’s so nice when God shows up with wisdom that actually changes your thinking, your feelings, and your actions. We just have to be humble enough to receive it. (He’ll help us there too!)

In order to put us on the same page I would like to first define economy. For our purposes, economy will mean “all of our resources, including financial, physical, mental, relational, emotional, and spiritual ones, along with how they should be viewed and approached.” The phrase “Economy of Heaven” will then mean “all of our resources along with how they should be viewed and approached from God’s perspective.” My desire is for us to improve how we approach every aspect of our life, not just our finances, by coming from God’s perspective.
